Asian Young Scientist Fellowship jobs and careers
About Asian Young Scientist Fellowship
Asian Young Scientist Fellowship (AYS Fellowship) is a privately funded research fellowship in the Asian region. It aims to encourage and support young scientists in Asia to carry out creative and transformative research. It was established in 2022 by a group of scientists from the international community and supported by individual donors who are committed to accelerating the advancement of science through philanthropy. The AYS Fellowship annually selects 12 early-career researchers in three fields: 1) Life Science, 2) Physical Science, and 3) Mathematics and Computer Science. Eligible candidates must be within 10 years post-completion of the terminal degree (Ph.D./MD) and hold a full-time position at universities and academic research institutions in Asia, currently covering China (mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan), India, Japan, Korea, and Singapore. The selection process is nomination-based, with deans and department heads of major universities and research institutions proposing eligible candidates. The Selection Committee then undertakes a rigorous review process to evaluate the candidates based on their past research achievements and future research plans. Each AYS Fellow will receive $100,000 USD over a two-year term to support their research. AYS Fellows have opportunities to participate in the mentorship program, academic activities, and the annual conference as part of the Fellowship program. Through a series of events and initiatives, the AYS Fellowship aims to create a community that fosters explorative thinking, cross-disciplinary collaboration, international exchanges, and mentorship.
