About Association of Iberian and Latin American Studies of Australasia (AILASA)

Welcome to the Association of Iberian and Latin American Studies of Australasia (AILASA). AILASA was founded in 1993 to promote research into and the teaching of Iberian and Latin American Studies in Australia and New Zealand in all its geographic diversity (Spain, Portugal, Latin America and other Hispanic and Lusophone parts of the world) and in its varied objects of study (language and literature, history and anthropology, popular and visual culture, sociology and music, and so forth). AILASA organises a biennial conference and supports the professional development of its members as well as activities that promote Iberian and Latin American Studies, including the publication of The Journal of Iberian and Latin American Research, published by Taylor and Francis. AILASA welcomes new members. Anyone interested in learning more about the diverse cultures and societies of the Hispanic and Lusophone world are encouraged to apply.
