About Australasian Association for Theatre, Drama and Performance Studies

The Australasian Association for Theatre, Drama and Performance Studies (ADSA Ltd) represents members of staff and postgraduate students of institutions of higher education in Australia, Aotearoa, and the Pacific who are engaged in teaching and research in theatre, drama and performance studies. ADSA also seeks to represent the interests of performance practitioners, as well as teachers in secondary and post-secondary settings, who are collaborating with theatre, drama and performance studies in higher education. ADSA's primary activities include publishing the peer reviewed journal "Australasian Drama Studies" (founded in 1982), and hosting conferences and symposia that allow members to explore topics of critical importance to the discipline. ADSA awards annual prizes to recognise excellence in research and service, as well as supporting the activities of postgraduate students and early career scholars through bursaries. The organisation also hosts a range of working groups focussed on specific topics of interest, who meet to advance scholarship and raise the international profile of research in our region.
