About Australian Wool Exchange Ltd - AWEX

Australian Wool Exchange (AWEX) is the trusted independent standards owner and service provider for the Australian wool industry. Established in 1994, AWEX supports a fair, efficient and reputable wool market by delivering world-class systems, data and assurance across the supply chain. As a member-based not-for-profit organisation representing the majority of first-hand wool traded in Australia, AWEX strengthens confidence in Australian wool by setting industry standards, modernising traceability, and promoting innovation. What we do: • Deliver transparent, competitive trading systems and wool auction services that give buyers and sellers confidence. • Maintain and administer key quality and preparation standards, including wool classing codes and registrations. • Provide leading market information and digital platforms such as WoolClip (digital specification and on-farm data capture) and eBale (unique bale identification). • Champion trusted sustainability and integrity credentials through the Australian Wool Sustainability Scheme (AWSS) and the National Wool Declaration Integrity Program (NWD-IP). Our work underpins Australia’s global reputation for high-quality, traceable, sustainable wool — reinforcing market access and helping industry participants meet evolving customer expectations.
