About Aviva Bio

Aviva Bio is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on advancing hormone-based medicine. We aim to unlock the potential of hormone therapies through precision drug design, targeting patient populations with significant unmet medical needs. Historically, the clinical use of testosterone has been constrained because it converts into estrogen through a process called aromatization. Aviva Bio’s lead therapeutic program, AVA-291 (d3-Testosterone), is designed to preserve androgen activity while resisting aromatization. d3-Testosterone: Re-engineered Testosterone The Problem Standard testosterone therapy can convert into estradiol through aromatization. This conversion has been associated with clinical risks such as: --Gynecomastia in men (aka "man boobs") --Increased breast cancer risk in women These risks have historically limited the clinical development of testosterone-based treatments. The Gap Testosterone plays an important physiological role in: --Libido --Muscle mass --Energy levels --Metabolic health --Overall quality of life However, safety concerns associated with aromatization have constrained the development of therapies based on testosterone. The Solution d3-Testosterone (d3-T) is an investigational androgen therapy designed to retain the beneficial effects of testosterone while resisting aromatization. The compound is structurally identical to testosterone except that certain hydrogen atoms are replaced with deuterium, a naturally occurring isotope. This molecular modification is designed to: --Maintain androgen receptor activity --Prevent conversion into estradiol --Enable safer androgen therapy across different clinical contexts.
