About Banamid Research institute

BAN[A]MID / bænaːmɪd / Banamid was founded in June 2012 but the initial idea of a research institute that focuses on architecture and multidisciplinary studies goes back to several years ago. This organization was created with a different view on architecture, not as a mere profession but more as a social catalyst. Banamid is an independent institute with a view on research and debates in architecture and contemporary urban planning. It is in essnece, a centre for architectural discourse. Research projects that form the most integral part of Banamid, are based on theoretic, historical and critical issues. Moreover, the multi-disciplinary nature of architecture brings up the concept of [dialogue] in architecture and its relationship to other professions and disciplines such as social sciences and art. This dialogue rises from the conversations between experts in these fields and extends out into the society of Iran and its people. Drawing attention to the importance of role and position of human in architecture is one of the key objectives of Banamid.
