Better Season Project jobs and careers
About Better Season Project
Half a billion smallholder farmers grow a third of the world’s food, yet most live in extreme poverty. Proven tools like water tanks and storage bags can raise farm incomes for years, but lenders misjudge smallholders’ risk, leaving a $170B finance gap. Better Season Project is closing that gap by making productive investment affordable for smallholder farmers. Through asset-collateralised lending (ACL): farmers use the asset itself as collateral, lowering barriers to credit, reducing risk for lenders, and creating stable pathways to higher income. Working with SACCOs and cooperatives in Kenya, we strengthen local lending systems, support farmer adoption, and run rigorous monitoring to track income increases, repayment, and resilience. Our aim is a fair, scalable, self-sustaining model of smallholder finance - so early philanthropy unlocks lasting income growth. Our work is driven by evidence, cost-effectiveness, and transparency.
