About Beyond Party - Montana First

Beyond Party – Montana First acknowledges both the value of political parties and their limitations. Our purpose is to nurture fundamental republican and democratic principles, clearly articulated in both the United States and Montana constitutions. Those foundational principles include popular sovereignty, the right to know, the right to participate, and the separation of powers. Beyond Party – Montana First explicitly aims to support pragmatic or problem-solving behavior on the part of elected officials. As a 501(c)(4) organization, we serve as a democracy lobby capable of swaying critical votes and building a broad, resilient base of popular support capable of engaging directly in elections, including primaries. While we evaluate (and may either oppose or support) measures and candidates in particular election cycles, our commitment is to improving the big picture of republican democracy over the long term.
