About Bikes4All
Bikes4All is a nonprofit organization founded by Iman Moshari during his junior year of high school. The organization is dedicated to collecting unused or abandoned bicycles, repairing them, and distributing them to individuals in need within Santa Cruz County. The initiative aims to improve accessibility to transportation, thereby enhancing opportunities for those who may otherwise lack mobility. Moshari was inspired to start Bikes4All after learning that many abandoned bikes collected by state parks were being discarded. His passion for biking and the desire to help others led him to create this project, which has also provided a platform for other students to complete their community service hours by participating in the bike repairs. The organization receives bikes from various sources, including donations from individuals and local law enforcement agencies. These bikes are repaired by volunteers under Moshari's guidance and then distributed to applicants through their website. The majority of the recipients are adults without means of transportation, although children also benefit from the program. Bikes4All not only addresses the immediate need for transportation but also fosters a sense of community and empowerment among its volunteers and recipients. The initiative has been recognized and supported by the local community, and Moshari himself has received accolades for his leadership and impact, such as winning the Rise Challenge scholarship and being named NEXTies 2024 Young Leader of the Year.
