About Bilingual European School

The Bilingual European School (BES) in Milan is a pioneer in bilingual education, starting with the British American Pre-School's English immersion program. BES offers a 50%-50% integrated bilingual model (English/Italian) through Primary, Middle, and High Schools, culminating in a double degree (Italian/International). Studies show that bilingualism enhances decision-making and responsiveness to stimuli compared to monolingual peers. BES is accredited by the Italian Ministry of Education (Paritaria) and international organizations like the International Baccalaureate and Blyth Academy. It integrates Italian and international curricula, administering Italian national exams while preparing students for both Italian and English-medium schools. BES is also a technological leader, pioneering Milan’s first bilingual 1:1 iPad program from Year 1, enabling close monitoring of student progress by teachers and parents. As Milan’s first bilingual school recognized by the International Baccalaureate Organization®, Blyth Academy, and other global institutions, BES ensures program quality through regular inspections and teacher professional development, promoting academic excellence. Student safeguarding, security, and well-being are priorities. The BES Child Study Team works collaboratively with teachers, students, and parents to address social, learning, and academic needs. As part of the Globeducate Group, BES leads innovative programs like the LEGO Education Innovation Studio, initiatives in science, technology, and AI, and partnerships with WWF to develop skills in critical thinking, cooperation, and creativity while deepening scientific knowledge and motivation.
