About Bollywood Film Journalists’ Awards

Power Brands Bollywood Film Journalist's Awards organized by Planman Motion Pictures and Daily Indian Media, was started with the clear ambition of being the Oscars of India. This is India's only film awards decided on the basis of Open Ballot Voting— with high integrity and transparency, the true voice of creative filmmaking. . The voting is done only by film journalists of India & the detailed results of who has voted for whom can be seen on our website at least a fortnight before the ceremony. Apart from being Open Ballot & highly credible due to voting being restricted only to film critics, the award also is unique as it honours not just the winner but the associate winner as well. Also unlike other awards, since the winners are declared before hand, the awards are given irrespective of the presence of the winner. BFJA was launched in 2017 with the passionate support of Rishi Kapoor—by him & Neetu Singh. While launching the awards & 3 Coffee Table Books he virtually took over the entire ceremony & lauded BFJA idea saying “it was high time Bollywood awards got credibility”. At the launch, man behind this unique concept Dr. Arindam Chaudhuri says "Awards are given even if you merely attend an award ceremony, or at the diktat of channels that want viewership. At PB-BFJA we decided to entrust the selection to critics who have been watching films every week for years. I do hope one day Aamir Khan takes back his vow of not attending any awards functions & makes his first appearance here due to its completely transparent nature." Coincidentally in 2017, Manoj Bajpayee won the best actor award & it’s Aamir Khan who won the associate best actor award! Recent surveys have proved that viewers are being dismissive of the plethora of popular awards being dished out, which have been ‘contaminated’ with star power, and have wandered away from celebrating true talent, to become a big publicity party. PB-BFJA has no nominations. Film critics are free to decide their choice.
