Books In Motion, founded in 1980, is a pioneer in the unabridged audiobook industry. Originally focused on selling to public libraries, the company became a full-fledged audiobook publisher in 1988, specializing in Westerns and partnering with the Western Writers of America. In 1992, BIM launched a nationwide audiobook rental program for truck drivers, partnering with 660 truck stops across the U.S. After transitioning from cassette tapes to CDs, BIM pivoted to digital downloads in 2006, continuing to expand globally through strategic marketing partnerships.
