About Bornoff Foundation for the Advancement of String Education
In the 1950s, George Bornoff revolutionized music education by introducing a comprehensive approach to classroom string pedagogy. He established core frameworks like the Bornoff Finger Patterns and String Cycle Form, which have helped generations of teachers to demystify string technique and scaffold concepts all the way to the collegiate level. The Bornoff Approach reduces educational barriers by equipping students with highly artistic technique and a fearless performance mindset that can be applied to any style of music, even in the first year of playing. Today, the Bornoff Foundation for the Advancement of String Education (FASE) offers method books, digital tools, training opportunities, grant programs, and ongoing support for teachers interested in a more efficient, empowering, and inclusive approach to strings. Our goal is to uplift string teachers from and for every community.
