About CAAS - Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services

The Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) is an independent, nonprofit organization that defines the national standard for quality, safety, and accountability in mobile healthcare. CAAS develops and maintains nationally recognized, consensus-based accreditation standards for ambulance services of all types and service models. These standards are designed to align with how agencies operate and lead—supporting consistent performance, strong governance, and patient-centered care. CAAS accreditation provides independent verification that an organization has the systems, leadership, and accountability in place to meet nationally defined expectations. Through objective review and experienced peer evaluation, CAAS helps agencies identify strengths, address risk, and sustain organizational excellence over time. Accreditation through CAAS is voluntary and applies to public, private, fire-based, hospital-based, and nonprofit ambulance services serving communities across the United States.
