About Camara Education Ltd.
Camara Education is an international charity transforming learning across Africa through digital and AI-enabled education. Working in Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Zambia, we partner with Ministries of Education and local stakeholders to bring technology into classrooms in ways that improve how teachers teach and how students learn—even in low-connectivity environments. Through our network of locally led Education Hubs, we equip schools with technology, deploy curriculum-aligned software and offline AI tools, and train teachers to integrate these into everyday teaching. Our model combines teacher training, local support, and long-term system maintenance to ensure sustainable impact at scale. We also partner with organisations to repurpose surplus IT equipment, unlocking its value to fund and equip Digital Learning Centres in underserved schools—creating a circular model that delivers both environmental and social impact. To date, Camara has placed over 149,909 computers in 13,124 schools, trained more than 72,107 teachers, and reached approximately 5,009,687 students. Our mission is to transform education through technology to empower disadvantaged learners. Our vision is a world where every student has access to quality, technology-enabled education. We do this through your donations, and by working with companies in the UK and Ireland to recycle their surplus or end-of-life computers and other IT equipment. We deliver both social and environmental impact: reducing waste and emissions around IT disposal, and delivering transformative digital education.
