About Cancer Black Care

Cancer Black Care is a community-led charity addressing cancer inequalities affecting Black and other racially minoritised communities across the UK. Founded in 1995, CBC was established in response to persistent gaps in culturally relevant cancer information, engagement, and support. For nearly 30 years, we have worked at the intersection of lived experience, community trust, and health equity. We provide culturally informed cancer information, one-to-one support, group-based interventions, and advocacy to help individuals and families navigate diagnosis, treatment, and life beyond cancer. Our work recognises the impact of structural inequality, culture, faith, and family on cancer outcomes and access to care. CBC works in partnership with NHS services, Integrated Care Systems, local authorities, and national charities to improve early engagement, patient experience, and outcomes for underserved communities. We also deliver community-based awareness and engagement programmes that support prevention, early diagnosis, and informed decision-making. Our approach is evidence-informed and rooted in lived experience. Many of our staff, trustees, and volunteers are cancer survivors or carers, bringing credibility, insight, and empathy to our work. Cancer Black Care exists to ensure equity is embedded in cancer support, not treated as an afterthought.
