About Cardiac Community Advocacy and Support Initiative

Cardiac Community Advocacy and Support Initiative is a patient-led organisation dedicated to raising awareness about cardiovascular diseases in Nigeria and providing support to those living with them, with a strong focus on pulmonary hypertension (PH). We are the first organisation in Nigeria solely dedicated to pulmonary hypertension awareness and patient support. Founded in 2020 by Ayotunde Omitogun, a pulmonary hypertension patient and advocate, Cardiac Community was born from lived experience, after witnessing how isolating it can be to live with a cardiovascular condition in Nigeria, and the significant lack of awareness, support, and access to care. Our work is driven by a simple belief: No Nigerian should have to fight heart disease alone. Since our inception, we have been on the ground, raising awareness, supporting patients, advocating for early diagnosis and better care, and providing direct support to those who cannot afford life-saving treatment.
