The Biotechnology Centre of Azores (CBA) is a strategic R&D unit in the area of Biotechnology, and its interaction with Agricultural and Biological Sciences. The mission is to foster fundamental and applied scientific research to develop new knowledge and technological innovation, creating opportunities and impacting economic growth by promoting innovation, entrepreneurship and competitiveness in the agrarian, environmental and bioindustrial sectors. Promotes excellent research, advanced education and technology transfer, to be competitive within the international research community, highlighting the regional natural resources as a source for competitive research, innovative products and solutions. Strategic Objectives: - Develop advanced scientific and technological research in Biotechnology  - Foster training of qualified human resources  - Build-up networks and research projects with international and national research groups  - Develop innovative products and services, and its integration in the agricultural, environmental and bio-industrial sectors - Disseminate the CBA results and contribute to the diffusion of scientific culture, as a means of promoting social well-being and valuing citizens    Scientific Objectives: - Sustainable management and biotechnological exploitation of Azorean natural resources  - Plant health and biointeractions
