About Central Coast Psychological Services

At Central Coast Psychological Services, we pride ourselves on combining compassionate therapy with modern convenience. Our team of caring and committed therapists specialize in personalized and group psychotherapy for various needs, including anxiety, depression, family dynamics, grief, trauma, addiction, school challenges, and ADHD. We accept CenCal and Medicare, offering both in-person and online therapy to ensure accessibility for all clients in need of mental health support and growth within our community. Dr. Kristyn Collins, PhD - Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Director, oversees our program for supervising trainee therapists at Central Coast Psychological Services. Dr. Collins employs a client-centered and integrated theoretical approach, emphasizing the importance of understanding how each client's culture, environment, and early life experiences shape their worldview, choices, and behaviors. Dr. Collins is deeply invested in the professional growth of future therapists. She supervises practicum students, marriage and family therapy associates and registered psychological associates, providing guidance through both one-on-one meetings and small group settings. Her supervision is grounded in an integrated theoretical orientation and incorporates process notes and case discussions. She is passionate about teaching trainees to develop therapeutic listening skills, address transference and countertransference issues, and understand the impact of early life trauma on mental health. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Collins has published research on the connection between early life attachment styles, anxiety, and substance use. She is committed to fostering a supportive and enriching learning environment for all trainee therapists under her supervision.
