About Cephas Health Research Initiative

Cephas Health Research Initiative Inc. (Cephas) is a Nigeria-based, non-profit research organization committed to advancing evidence-based public health, scientific innovation, and capacity building across Africa and beyond. Founded in 2016, Cephas serves as a multidisciplinary platform for research, training, and policy engagement—bridging the gap between science, innovation, and real-world impact. Cephas operates through three specialized research centers: Centre for Digital Health Research, Innovation and Practice Centre for Disease Control and Prevention Centre for Evidence Synthesis and Implementation Research Through these centers, Cephas leads collaborative research projects, provides training in scientific and public health methods, and supports policy translation to improve health outcomes in low- and middle-income countries. Recognized as Nigeria’s second-ranked corporate research organization (Nature Index, 2025) and 15th in Africa, Cephas has produced over 260 peer-reviewed publications, engaged in global collaborations, and mentored a new generation of African researchers. Our work spans multiple thematic areas, including digital health, oncology, global health, and academic–industry partnerships.
