About CERAD Center for Relief Aid and Development
CERAD was founded with a deep and personal commitment to transforming the lives of women, children, and young people in underserved communities. As a woman-led, non-profit organization registered in 2023, CERAD emerged in response to the urgent health, Environmental and socio economic gaps. Serving some of the most vulnerable communities, where countless women and children suffered preventable illnesses and deaths due to poverty, cultural barriers, and a broken healthcare system. Many women gave birth in unsafe, unsanitary environments, often relying on traditional birth attendants or turning to herbal remedies and harmful practices out of desperation. Accessing health services often meant out-of-pocket costs that families simply could not afford leading to delayed treatment, complications, and in too many cases, death. CERAD was born from these lived experiences. We believe that health and poverty are inseparably linked. Our mission is rooted in an integrated model that addresses the root causes of poor health primarily poverty by promoting access to primary healthcare, maternal and child health services, and economic empowerment. “When people are healthy, they can be productive. When they are economically empowered, they can access better health. This virtuous cycle is the foundation of our work.”
