About Chestnut Montessori School

Chestnut Montessori School was founded by Jeannine Hanson in 2008 to exemplify a model school for children, parents, teachers, and teachers-in-training on one dedicated campus. After spending over 20 years as the director of another local Montessori school and as an educator of Montessori teachers, Jeannine opened Chestnut Montessori with the goal to provide students with a genuine Montessori experience that would foster them to become joyful lifelong learners. Jeannine used her extensive knowledge of the Montessori Method to create and implement a curriculum that was lacking in other Montessori schools. Chestnut Montessori has two Early Childhood classrooms and one Lower Elementary classroom and is tucked away between Kirkland and Bellevue, near the entrance to 520. Peacefulness and tranquility are apparent upon entering the tree-lined campus. Modeled after Dr. Maria Montessori’s original Casa dei Bambini (Children’s House), the small and nurturing school environment supports joyous learning, both inside and outdoors. Administration and faculty hold American Montessori Society teaching credentials and provide a Montessori and S.T.E.A.M. curriculum. School Hours are 8:45-3:00 Extended Care Hours are 8:00-6:00 After School Enrichment Activities include: Soccer, Engineering, Ceramics, Ballet, and Drawing.
