China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) is a Chinese state-owned energy company established in 1982 and headquartered in Beijing, focused on the exploration, development, and production of crude oil and natural gas in offshore China. It is the third largest national oil company in China, with listed subsidiary CNOOC Limited traded on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The company is owned by the Chinese government through the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission.
