About City of Rockford Illinois

The City of Rockford is comprised of more than 1,000 employees across more than 30 buildings. Our team is dedicated to making Rockford a wonderful place to work, live, visit, raise a family or grow a business. We’re investing millions of dollars in infrastructure improvements and neighborhood revitalizations. We’re leading the country in our efforts to end veteran, chronic and youth homelessness; to implement 21st Century policing best practices in our public safety initiatives; & to track and measure progress through public accountability. We’re fierce advocates lobbying diligently to leadership in Springfield for the rights of Rockford citizens. Our central location, with easy access to major highways, rail service & one of the fastest growing airports in the country make Rockford a great location for new business development. We’ve been named the nation’s third Ford Next Generation Learning Model Community based on our public school success in developing & implementing high school career academies. We keep the world flying, as dozens of aerospace & advanced manufacturing companies call our city home. We’re the home of Jane, the world’s most complete and best preserved juvenile T.rex, at the Burpee Museum of Natural History; Anderson Japanese Gardens; the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Laurent House; some of the best & most affordable golf in the Midwest; and Rockford City Market, which features local growers, vendors, live music & demonstrations. We’re the hometown of internationally-known, Rock and Roll Hall-of-Fame rock group, Cheap Trick, & we continue to showcase the best local, regional & national entertainment at a variety of venues throughout the city. We’ve recently invested in MercyHealth Sportscore 1 and 2 & the UW Health Sports Factory, offering state-of-the-art outdoor and indoor sports facilities, cementing our national reputation as a leader in youth sports. We’re passionate about our city. We have a proud past and an even brighter future.
