About Clean Ocean Ensemble

Clean Ocean Ensemble is a Japan-based nonprofit founded in 2020 on Shodoshima Island, committed to a zero marine debris world. We tackle hard-to-reach marine plastic pollution by developing innovative, low-cost collection technologies—built from everyday materials like fishing nets and floats, and often powered by natural forces—to recover debris from oceans, rivers, and seabeds in sustainable, community-driven ways. We visualize and share real-world impact through our interactive Marine Debris Map and photo-reporting app, tracking collection data, locations, and outcomes. This transparency inspires greater participation from individuals, businesses, and partners, driving more cleanups, recycling, and resource recovery. Collected marine debris is sorted, processed, and regenerated into reusable materials and products through collaborations with companies and creators—advancing a true circular economy for ocean health. As of February 2026, we've collected over 2,422 kg of marine debris, recycled/reused more than 510 kg, and mapped 1,320+ data points. Join us—whether through partnerships, support, or shared cleanups—to help prevent pollution at the source and protect marine ecosystems worldwide. #MarineDebris #OceanCleanup #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #PlasticPollution
