About Cofan Survival Fund / Fundación Sobrevivencia Cofán

Founded in 1999, Cofan Survival Fund (Fundación para la Sobrevivencia del Pueblo Cofan) is a non-profit organization with Cofán leadership dedicated to the survival of the Cofán indigenous culture and its Amazonian rainforest environment. We are committed to biodiversity conservation and research, protecting our ancestral territory and its natural resources, developing environmentally sound income alternatives, and educating our youngest generation. We focus on finding solutions for the survival of the Cofan Nation and the long-term management of natural resources in Cofan ancestral territory in Ecuador. Our strategy combines government alliances, extensive fieldwork, on-the-ground management and control, and community-based conservation.
