About Columbia Autonomous Racing

Columbia Autonomous Racing is a student-led engineering organization at Columbia University focused on the development of high-performance autonomous racing systems. We bring together students from computer science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, data science, and related disciplines to design and develop intelligent systems across perception, state estimation, motion planning, control, simulation, and full-system integration. Our objective is to establish Columbia as a competitive presence in autonomous racing while creating a structured platform for students to apply advanced theory to real-world engineering challenges. Autonomous racing demands precision, robustness, and system-level thinking, making it an ideal environment for developing cutting-edge autonomy solutions. The team was founded by students with prior autonomous racing experience at ETH Zurich and Delft University of Technology, bringing proven methodologies and a strong European racing culture to the United States. We are building a long-term foundation focused on technical excellence, research-driven development, and disciplined engineering practices. Columbia Autonomous Racing is open to technical exchange, knowledge sharing, and engagement with industry and academic partners interested in autonomous systems and robotics.
