About Community Reads

Community Reads is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environment for young children. By leveraging the power of literature, we aim to broaden the perspectives of students in grades K-2, instilling values of empathy, respect, and understanding from an early age. Our vision is to create a generation of children who are not only literate but also culturally aware and sensitive to the diversity that enriches our society. We believe that exposure to diverse stories and characters can help children appreciate differences they see in the world and in themselves and promote a more inclusive community. **Mission Statement:** Our mission is to promote representation in children's literature, fostering empathy, understanding, and positive self-image among young students through engaging and educational activities. **Vision Statement:** We envision a world where all children see themselves reflected in the stories they read, leading to a more inclusive and understanding society.
