About Consortium of European Research Libraries (CERL)

The Consortium of European Research Libraries (CERL) connects research libraries across Europe to foster collaboration, share expertise, and improve access to the continent’s rich manuscript and printed heritage from the hand-press period (up to c. 1850). Founded at the initiative of leading European research libraries in 1992 and formally established in 1994, CERL works to support the preservation, discovery, and scholarly use of early European written heritage.
