About Copenhagen Budo Academy

Shotokan Karate club in Nørrebro, Copenhagen. We strive to help young people in the neighborhood build character and integrity through karate-do practice and elements of modern Bushido. The student learns, that his character is essentially who he is as a person. It is the person that he has become through his actions and decisions over a lifetime and the intrinsic qualities and principles that makes the student a man of integrity and honor. It is his character which sets him apart from the average man. Any man can be trained to fight, but it takes much more than a set of physical skills to be a true man of honor; it takes character. Gichin Funakoshi, the father of Shotokan karate, stated that, “The ultimate aim of Karate lies not in victory or defeat, but in the perfection of the character of the participant.”
