The Coral Reefs of the High Seas (CRHS) Coalition is a global alliance working to conserve coral reef ecosystems beyond national borders. The high seas cover two-thirds of the global ocean, but just 1.5% is currently protected. We bring together scientists, decision-makers, and communities to safeguard globally significant biodiversity sites, with a strong initial focus on the Salas y Gómez and Nazca ridges - a vast underwater mountain range in the Southeast Pacific that supports extraordinary marine biodiversity. As the BBNJ Agreement (or High Seas Treaty) creates a once-in-a-generation opportunity for protection, CRHS connects organizations and experts that once worked in isolation, turning shared knowledge into coordinated action.
