About Criminal Lawyers’ Association
The Criminal Lawyers’ Association (CLA) works to strengthen Canada’s fair, impartial and accountable justice system. Established in 1971, our members protect Canada’s constitutional promise of equal protection and benefit of the law. We advise governments on criminal justice policy and evidence-based reforms. The CLA also offers its members’ frontline expertise to the courts on complicated constitutional questions by intervening in appeals across the country, including the Supreme Court of Canada. Based in Ontario, CLA members benefit from timely and relevant continuing education programs and conferences, professional mentorship, and practical support in every aspect of their criminal litigation practice. Our non-profit association is one of Canada’s largest specialty legal organizations. Even if you don’t practice in Ontario, the CLA welcomes you to join as an observer member.
