About Cucalorus Film Foundation

The 31st annual Cucalorus Festival returns to downtown Wilmington, NC, November 19–23, 2025. This non-competitive celebration showcases 120+ films from around the world and draws filmmakers, performers, and activists to explore art, new ideas, and the ongoing work of undoing racism. Festival programming spans social justice, dance on camera, emerging voices, southern stories, horror and the bizarre, and the year’s best indie films. Voted “One of the Coolest Film Festivals in the World” and a 10-time winner of “50 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee” by MovieMaker Magazine, Cucalorus offers a retreat-like setting that sparks creative connection, lasting friendships, and bold collaborations.
