About Culture Calls
Culture Calls is a conversation-led platform created to slow things down in a world that moves too fast — and to share India’s stories with the world, on our own terms. At a time when opinions are compressed into soundbites and shaped for virality, Culture Calls chooses depth: listening deeply, speaking honestly, and giving stories the time they deserve. Unapologetically Indian and globally minded, Culture Calls begins by questioning familiar frames. Is Indian music only Bollywood? Is our cuisine just butter chicken and naan? Is tradition the opposite of innovation? India is the world’s most populous nation, the youngest major economy, and the talent capital of the global workforce. There is an Indian everywhere — shaping culture, business, policy, and ideas across borders. Yet India is often viewed through narrow stereotypes. Culture Calls pushes back, bringing together voices from cities, towns, and villages, across geopolitics, literature, art, war, theatre, and everyday life — through unscripted, long-form conversations that travel from India to the globe. Founded by Venkat K. Narayana and Yeshasvini Ramaswamy, and backed by the KVN Group, Culture Calls is built as a growing community, not a broadcast channel. Through #CJ (Culture Journalism), the platform invites people across India and the world to contribute culture stories from the ground up, creating space for honest, fresh perspectives beyond the usual spotlight. Culture Calls is not driven by trends or algorithms, but by the conviction that as India’s influence grows, its stories must be told with depth, dignity, and truth.
