About Debbie Spielberg for County Council District 1

I’m running for Montgomery County Council because our community deserves a representative who will listen, lead with compassion, and deliver real results. For more than 25 years, I’ve devoted my career to public service — championing policies that expand health care access, protect the environment, and make housing more affordable. Early in my career, I was honored to serve as Legislative Director for Congressman John Lewis, where I learned the power of “good trouble” and the importance of fighting for justice. Since then, I’ve worked as a senior staffer in Montgomery County government, dealing with the issues that affect residents every day — from the minimum wage to land use, from economic development to environmental protection. As a Democrat, I believe in transparency, accountability, and respect for all voices. I’ve lived in Montgomery County for more than 25 years, raised two children who attended MCPS, and volunteered as a PTA leader, campaign chair, and community advocate. Now, I’m ready to bring that experience to the Council. On day one, I’ll get to work on the challenges and opportunities we face as a county — from affordable housing and education to economic growth and sustainability. 📌 Candidate for Montgomery County Council, District 1 — Democratic Primary, June 23, 2026
