I'm Teresa, founder of DéDannan. I am an experienced legal executive and certified mediator based in Ireland. I have been advocating mediation over litigation for over 15 years and the benefits of mediation in not only financial cost, but also for relationships. I decided to start this mediation business after helping countless couples and families navigate the mentally and financially exhausting route of litigation, courts and legal fees. I knew the benefits of mediation for years but it was another to put it into practice. Litigation is an adversarial process, this means that a person who knows nothing about you, your life, your relationships or your feelings demands you turn up in court and make a decision on your life based on what is in a file in front of them. So I made the decision to help clients, “mediation, not litigate”, to train and register with the Mediators Institute of Ireland, so I could help people, like you to take the decision making process into your own hands and make decisions that are best for you, your family, your community, your life. Mediation is a voluntary only service designed to efficiently and cost-effectively find resolution to your conflicts. “Mediation is about listening, and not just waiting for your turn to talk”. Conflict is inevitable, but how you deal with conflict is the key to success, a client once said, it wasn’t that I didn’t see a solution, I never saw the problem in the first place. At DéDannan, mediation is not limited to just a few hours or a day-long session. It's a process, and one at which our mediators and case managers excel. We work diligently every step of the way, from pre-mediation calls and preparation to post-mediation follow-up—toward helping all parties arrive at the best possible outcome to their dispute
