About Design for Impact

Most organizations don't have an effort problem. They have a focus problem. Leadership attention is the scarcest strategic resource in any organization. Where it gets spent determines everything downstream - strategy, culture, execution, and impact. And yet most leaders are spending their best thinking on work that isn't theirs to do. Design for Impact was built by two people who have held the roles our clients occupy - not as advisors watching from the outside, but as operators who made high-stakes decisions at the top of complex organizations. Ali Kenney spent 18 years at Burton Snowboards, ultimately as Chief Strategy Officer - where she learned firsthand that sustainability only goes as far as the business strategy beneath it. She built the strategy function because she saw that without focused strategy and the operating systems to support it, even the best sustainability work stays decorative. Kristy Troup built and ran a $300M business at eBay - turning strategy into operational momentum inside one of the world's most complex organizations, where misalignment shows up in the numbers immediately. We started Design for Impact because we kept seeing the same pattern: capable leaders, talented teams, genuine ambition - and an organizational architecture that couldn't carry it. Strategy spread too thin. Purpose treated as a communications layer. Operating systems built around yesterday's priorities. Our work is to fix the architecture. We help founders, CEOs, and senior leaders discover where they create disproportionate value - and build the strategy, purpose integration, and operating systems that make that advantage durable and meaningful. We work with a small number of clients at a time. By design. Start with a conversation: designimpact.net We are inspired by working with organizations and leaders that are building a better world.
