About Desire Youth Initiative

The Desire Youth Initiative is a nonprofit organization based in the coastal region of Kenya, dedicated to advocating for the eradication of FGM, the promotion of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), addressing gender-based violence (GBV), climate change, economic empowerment, and peace and security. We operate within marginalized and indigenous communities, utilizing both online and physical platforms to conduct our advocacy. Our methods include mentorship, dialogue, outreach, and participatory filmmaking to drive social change. Committed to seeing our girls and women free from all forms of violence, we work closely with the government, religious leaders, local administration, and the broader community. We are actively seeking partnerships and collaborations with other organizations, governmental bodies, and stakeholders to amplify our impact, share resources, and implement sustainable solutions. By working together, we aim to create a society where women and girls can thrive without fear of violence and oppression.
