About Deutsche Gesellschaft für Demographie (DGD)

The German Society for Demography (DGD) promotes demographic research and teaching as well as exchange between science and societal stakeholders. The DGD’s goals are to disseminate demographic knowledge and to improve the capacity for action in dealing with demographic change. The DGD focuses on Germany and the German-speaking region while also promoting collaboration with international professional societies. In addition to demographic associations from other European countries, it maintains contacts with international organizations such as the European Association for Population Studies (EAPS) and the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP). The central forum for scientific exchange is the DGD conference, held every two years. In addition, the DGD and its seven working groups organize further conferences, courses, lectures, and publications. Membership in the DGD is open to all individuals with an interest in the diverse research fields of demography.
