About Deutscher Markscheider-Verein e.V. (DMV)

The Deutscher Markscheider-Verein e.V. (German Association of Mine Surveyors) is a professional association that mainly represents German, but also foreign mine surveyors and engineers in related geosciences. The profession of mine surveyor is one of the oldest and most traditional in German mining. The range of tasks of a mine surveyor is unusually diverse: it includes, among other things, involvement in the planning and implementation of exploration measures for a deposit, the environmentally friendly operational planning based on this, the implementation of approval procedures, the establishment of extraction or storage operations, ongoing extraction planning through to decommissioning and further utilisation and, last but not least, documentation in the mine work. At all times, these tasks require close interdisciplinary co-operation with geologists, mining engineers, geotechnical engineers and other specialist engineers. Coordination with representatives of the authorities, politicians and the public is also necessary. This communication is always based on data, analyses and information from mine surveying. The complexity of the information and the requirements of the users demand constant further development of the technical possibilities and continue to expand the areas of responsibility of the mine surveyor. The German Mine Surveyors' Association has the following aims: - Promotion of science, research and practice in mine surveying - To contribute to the development of mining and geotechnical engineering, the mining industry and mining law - Participation in training and further education in mine surveying - Representing the interests and concerns of the profession - Maintaining the reputation of the profession
