About District 3 Toastmasters

Toastmasters District 3 builds new clubs and supports all clubs in achieving excellence. Our core values: Integrity, Respect, Service, and Excellence. Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs. Headquartered in Englewood, Colo., the organization’s membership exceeds 358,000 in more than 16,800 clubs in 143 countries. Since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped people from diverse backgrounds become more confident speakers, communicators, and leaders. The first unofficial Toastmasters meeting was held on March 24, 1905. Then, much like Toastmasters meetings today, participants took turns leading and speaking at each meeting. Today, Toastmasters is an important partner for businesses and communities. Through a robust education program, Toastmasters provides opportunities to gain both experience and confidence in presentations/public speaking, and grow in leadership, knowledge, and volunteerism. In 1938, District 3 was the first District organized beyond the borders of California. Back then, District 3 had only five clubs. Today, District 3 consists of the entire state of Arizona, except for Yuma and the area north of the Grand Canyon. There are more than 200 Toastmasters clubs and more than 4000 members in the District. That number continues to grow daily. The types of clubs we have are as diverse as the members in them, including bi-lingual, fitness walkers, progressive dining, speaking professionally, speaking on live TV, and more!
