Dynegy Inc. is a holding company, which conducts its business operations through its subsidiaries. The Company's principal business is the production and sale of electric energy, capacity and ancillary services. As of December 31, 2016, the Company had a fleet of 50 power plants in 12 states totaling approximately 31,000 megawatts (MW) of generating capacity. Its segments include PJM, NY/NE, ERCOT, ISO, IPH and CAISO. As of December 31, 2016, its PJM segment comprised 23 power generation facilities located in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Virginia, West Virginia and New Jersey, totaling 13,510 MW of electric generating capacity. As of December 31, 2016, the Company's NY/NE segment comprised 11 power generation facilities located in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine and New York, totaling 6,543 MW of electric generating capacity. As of December 31, 2016, its ERCOT segment comprised six power generation facilities located in Texas, totaling 4,696 MW of electric generating capacity.
