EarthSpark International is a non-profit incubator for strategies to deliver high-quality energy services to under-served communities. EarthSpark pioneered solar microgrid and smart metering and controls for energy access communities. EarthSpark is now again disrupting widespread beliefs about microgrids by committing to 100% solar+storage grids with high service levels and high reliability. EarthSpark’s dynamic combination of “high-tech” solutions like smart-metering, demand-side management, electric cooking, and distributed energy resources and “no-tech” solutions like participatory governance, targeted energy literacy, and feminist electrification is a key differentiator that supports long-term sustainability and community collaboration. EarthSpark has also built Haiti’s first town-sized, solar-powered smart grid, launched a second in 2019, and secured $9.9M in support from Green Climate Fund for the launch of the next 22 grids. Now also supporting work in Puerto Rico and South Sudan, EarthSpark is a true partner for communities seeking better energy.
