About Edinburgh Open Workshop
Edinburgh Open Workshop (EOW) is a not-for-profit fabrication workshop based in Leith, providing affordable, membership-based access to shared workshop space, specialist equipment and technical support. We support a community of over 200 artists, makers, hobbyists and creative businesses through full-time and pay-as-you-go memberships. We deliver woodwork, metalwork, textile and DIY workshops for beginners through to advanced practitioners, alongside bespoke group sessions. Throughout the year we also host community programmes and charity events. Our premises include a 9m x 18m open-plan workshop space and a meeting room, both available for hire for community use and events. EOW also offers an in-house CNC, laser and cutting service, taking on commissions for signage, merchandise, set builds, plinths and more. We regularly work with local theatre companies, joiners, universities and students, marketing agencies and events teams. As a member-led, not-for-profit organisation, all surplus income is reinvested into equipment maintenance and purchase, the development of creative workspaces, and the research and advancement of creative practice across a range of sectors.
