About Electrochemical Energy Systems (EES)
The Junior Research Group „Electrochemical Energy Systems“ (EES) is dedicated to integrating latest material developments into state-of-the-art electrochemical devices such as fuel cells, electrolyzers and batteries. We are based at the University of Freiburg and Hahn Schickard Microanalysis Research Institute in Freiburg. We focus on devices with polymer electrolyte membranes, mostly proton or anion exchange membranes, through the development of membranes, electrodes and membrane-electrode-assemblies for fuel cells, batteries, electrolysers, etc. Our team consists of scientists from all STEM fields, which gives us a broad range of topics. This makes it possible to follow the path of the materials from synthesis in the laboratory to their use in the cell. Our laboratory equipment is just as diverse as our employees. We have the possibility to use several devices for analysis such as TEM, XRF, TGA etc.
