About Embroydica

Embroydica is a research-driven, independent embroidery encyclopedia dedicated to preserving, documenting, and celebrating embroidery as a global cultural practice. Our mission is to safeguard embroidery knowledge and make it accessible for future generations. We approach embroidery not only as decorative art, but as material culture, heritage, and a living form of human expression. You can find on Embroydica different educational resources such as the Encyclopedia (types of embroidery), World Embroidery (regional styles of embroidery), and inspirational sections such as Library of Inspiration, with short blogs and images of embroidery from different artists around the world. Looking ahead, Embroydica is exploring the development of “Stitches for Smiles, Threads for Healing,” a future volunteer program that views embroidery as a mindful and calming craft that supports emotional well-being, creativity, as well as connecting generational gaps. Embroydica is also planning on including a children’s embroidery encyclopedia, designed to introduce age-appropriate resources about embroidery with the aim of inspiring curiosity and appreciation for the younger audiences. We actively welcome contributors, researchers, artists, educators, and institutional partners.
