About Equity & Health Literacy Project

The Equity in Health Literacy Project (EHLP) is a youth-led nonprofit initiative dedicated to improving health literacy among immigrant, racialized, and underserved communities. We design and deliver multilingual health education programs that bridge gaps in understanding, access, and trust between patients and the healthcare system. Our current work includes a 12-week public health education course funded by the City of Vaughan, taught by certified healthcare professionals and tailored to the linguistic and cultural needs of our participants. Through partnerships, outreach, and data-driven program evaluation, we aim to empower individuals to make informed healthcare decisions and advocate for equitable care. EHLP is built on the belief that health information should be inclusive, accessible, and actionable — regardless of language, background, or status.
