About ESA Humanitarian Relief Fund
The ESA Humanitarian Relief Fund is more than just a name. We are a team of passionate ESA employees committed to make the difference in volunteer work. Help us in our task and donate or contact us for any information! The HRF was founded in 1979 by ESA employees to support small communities around the world by encouraging auto sufficiency, long-term sustainability, educational programs, clean water and sanitation, etc. Its committee members and volunteers are all ESA (ex) employees across the different ESA sites who run the Fund in their free time. They select small-scale sustainable projects that encourage autonomy through local management and with minimum overheads. To collect funding, they organize fund-raising events on special occasions such as Open Days or ESA Team Days, or at lunchtime on regular working days. In 2025, the HRF has provided €42,000 to 13 different projects that have been successfully completed thanks to your generosity. The new projects the HRF would like to fund focus on addressing menstrual health, disability inclusion and environmental sustainability in a rural area in Uganda, renovation works in a primary school for deaf children in Kenya, and ensuring clean drinking water and sanitation facilities in a secondary school in India.
