About European Tactical Medical Association - ETMA

The European Tactical Medical Association (ETMA) is a not-for-profit association formed by a multidisciplinary collaboration of clinicians, medics and operators dedicated to advancing the scientific basis of tactical and operational medicine to reduce the care gap at high-threat incidents across Europe. ETMA Background ETMA was founded in 2020, and is being publicly launched in 2026 to address the scientific gap in European High Threat Medicine and to develop how learning from high-threat and complex incidents is shared across borders. ETMA is focused on developing the evidence base for tactical, operational and high-threat medicine, with the aim of reducing the care gap at complex and high-risk incidents by translating real operational experience into realistic education and preparedness. ETMA brings together clinicians, operators, medics, responders, and experts from across Europe to share learning from real incidents, forensic insight, and survivor experience — supporting realistic education, improved inter-agency collaboration, and better outcomes at high-threat and mass-casualty events. While strong national organisations exist across Europe, opportunities for structured, evidence-based collaboration at a European level remain limited. ETMA provides a platform to connect expertise, share learning from real incidents, and support collective advancement without replacing or competing with existing bodies. ETMA works alongside established national and international high threat medical organisations, acting as a European-level platform to connect country-specific expertise, share learning, and support collective advancement across borders.
