About EXCEL Academy Public Charter School - PGCPS

Opened in 2006, EXCEL Academy Public Charter School is a public, International Baccalaureate candidate*, Kindergarten – 8th-grade academy. We cultivate our scholars’ growth using the four pillars of character development, college and career readiness, cultural arts, and community engagement. We are the longest-operating charter school in Prince George’s County, Maryland, in Ft. Washington, near National Harbor. EXCEL Academy Public Charter School develops compassionate lifelong learners through inquiry-based learning experiences. These experiences cultivate intercultural understanding through innovative teaching techniques and community partnerships, with rigorous and culturally engaging academic and social learning opportunities. *Only schools authorized by the International Baccalaureate can offer any of its four academic programmes: The Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme or the Career-related Programme (CP). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted. For further information about the IB and its programmes, visit www.ibo.org
